Update 17-8-2007

PGS has been permanently removed to make way for new things. It's time for me to move on and away from that silly project. Speaking of silly projects, I updated the frontpage and Wilkmeijer page with two new videos. Also, the videoblog has been reduced to two videos.

Welcome to Denden666Piek's homepage

What will this site be about:
It is my homepage, so it will contain everything I'm interested in and things I created or helped create. It's about the Beyond Good & Evil Revolution, movies, games and everything I can think of. Plus, this site will be the official home of the amateur movieproductions of Wilkmeijer Productions and Denden666Piek Productions. Please sign my guestbook, leave a message in the forum and let me know about what you think of the site in the polls.

The Yeltsin Dance:
17-8-2007

Wow, it's been a while, hasn't it? Well, no one's watching this site anyway, so I guess that's okay. Since Wilkmeijer Production is active again, it's time to update this again. So where have we been? Well, we've been travelling, actually. After my first study year was over, Ervee and I went to Russia to discover the philosophy of Yeltsin. Two Russian philosphers were kind enough to help us out. They came back with us to the Netherlands to help us find out what more there is behind the Yeltsin Dance. There's a trailer, but as I'm writing this update, there's also the first video of this project. Enjoy and learn!

A word from myself: I can't even remember when exactly we started on this project. It was first called LDX, which stands for Langzame Doorflipping X (it means something like: Slow Freakout X). We had some basic ideas. It had to be psychotic, it had to be exciting, we needed to do some cool effects that we hadn't done before and we needed to use our experience from Kristof Creen and Houvast to make sure that the camera work, direction and acting would be decent at the very least this time around. But the story itself was a huge problem. We had ideas like a student going nuts because of his busy schedule, and he began to see things that weren't there. We really wanted to have confusing stuff in LDX, like someone knocking on the door and when the main character opens the door, no one's there. The main character closes the door, and there's knocking again. He opens the door and there's his friend, who said he would be there that evening. But the main character still thought it was morning, so he jumped from morning to evening in one second. It sounds confusing when I'm trying to explain it, I know. But that's the point. Anyway, we had the ideas, but we didn't have the story. And then we came up with a story, in the summer we finally sat down and discussed where we should take this project. We brought up three characters, three friends, and one of them would become the victim of our original LDX thoughts. Although not nearly as psychotic as we initially wanted to go with LDX, the script that we wrote was still pretty insane. It would later become the script for Tension, with a few adjustments. Filming all the scenes was nowhere near the chaos we still remember Kristof Creen by. In fact, it came pretty close to the laid-back attitude we had during the shooting of Houvast(I translated it as Support in the English subtitled version, but it's still Houvast). There were some issues with time schedules, resulting in one of the directors not being able to be present on one particular day, for example. But in the end it all worked out, and the editing process began. Not as laid-back as the filming process, I must say. We did take our time and did not stress out, but issues with the Adobe Premier gave us a headache a few times. And sadly, these issues did have effect on the finished product. The pops and clicks you hear in the music, for example. We couldn't get rid of it and that's unfortunate, especially because of the great soundtrack including Silent Hill, Requiem for a Dream and The Village, but most important of all the great music Ervee van der Wilk composed exclusively for this movie. But besides the issues with Adobe, I'm happy with the final result of all our hard work. We had fun doing it, we took a long time doing it because of our busy schedules, while it could have been done in a few weeks if we had all the time in the world for it. But we didn't, and so here we are, months after we started. I'm glad to finally show it to anyone who wants to see it(and if you don't, I'll keep poking you until you give in). You will love it, hate it, fear it, laugh at it, find it amusing or get bored by it...in any case, just watch it and see for yourself. I think we really showed what we've learned as directors, cameramen, actors and editors ever since we made our first movie Kristof Creen about a year ago. Time goes by really fast. To conclude this little speech, I would like to ask you one thing: please provide us with useful feedback. We might not be able to work on a serious project for a long time since we're students now, but our passion for filmmaking remains. And therefore I want to ask you to make us see what we can't see. I'd really like some short reviews. A few lines, that's all. And if you want to write a longer review, please do! We'd really appreciate it!

Thank you for your attention, I hope you've enjoyed/will enjoy Tension. It might be our last serious project for some time, but I'm sure more will be coming in the future!

And don't forget: the bloopers are also on their way. Like Kristof Creen, 20 minutes of silliness!

Tension is finally finished! Yesterday, Ervee and I finished the movie and the behind-the-scenes(mostly bloopers). I can't really explain to you in words how excited I am right now. I'm really looking forward to finally showing all of you what Ervee and I have been working on for so long. It's just 9 or 10 minutes of film in the end, but I think we did a good job on making those 9 minutes totally worth the watch (and wait). You'll have to see and judge it for yourself soon enough. First it has to put on DVD, which is Ervee's job now. I promise that as soon as I get my hands on the DVD, I'm going to rip the movie from it and publish it on Youtube. A moment I've been waiting for for a very long time. Of course, I'll tell you now, don't be afraid to criticize whatever you don't like about it. But I also hope you'll be able to recognize the
hard work we put into it.

Tension is very near to completion right now. Today we worked on the soundtrack and we adjusted the sound in the movie to make sure that all speech is hearable. Some problems arose, one of our actors spoke a bit soft, so we needed to adjust the volume a lot during his dialogue. Also, Adobe Premiere screwed us by somehow throwing away all of our edited footage. Thanks Adobe Premiere! Luckily, we already rendered the movie(without music), or else we would have to start ALL OVER AGAIN. So we took the rendered movie and added all the music to it. Ervee composed some great music for the soundtrack, I'm very happy with it. We also got music from Silent Hill, Requiem For a Dream and The Village. But then, another problem appeared, one that will have some (negative) effect on the movie. I shouldn't be talking about this, in the hope of no one noticing when watching the movie, but I'll say it anyway. The music, when imported in Adobe, gets compressed and
suddenly there are clicks and pops in the tracks. This is saddening, because these
clicks and pops will be all over the finished product now. We tried dealing with this
problem, but there's nothing we can do about it. All in all, the endresult will not be as
good as it could have been, due to technical issues. But it will still be a good movie,
in my opinion. You'll have to see it for yourself soon. The begintitles and endcredits
need to be inserted and we need to insert some extra dialogue. We need to make a
blooper reel for the DVD(and for Youtube and this site, of course) and perhaps a trailer. One more day of work is all we need...

Tension is the latest movie from Wilkmeijer Productions, which is currently in post-production. All the videofootage has been edited. What remains are the sound effects and the music. I'll keep you informed on it's progress.
